Soft Bums Echo Dry Touch Review & Giveaway

Go back 16 years ago when my youngest brother was a newborn & still in diapers, my mom used cloth diapers. They absolutely disgusted me! I guess this could have been because I was only 12-13 years old, or it could have been because they were the ones where you had the plastic covers over them & the diapers were held together with what looked like huge safety pins! I can not count the times that I had to change his diapers & when they were poopy, I would hold them by the corner, not wanting to be touched by the poop, or even by the baby's pee! Boy how times have changed from those very unattractive diapers!

As you know, I have 2 older children (they will be 5 in June and 7 in August) and I used disposables with them. The thought NEVER crossed my mind to use cloth diapers! I had my 3rd child on March 31, and not even 2 months later, we have already went through so many disposable diapers that I have lost count!

When I had the opportunity to review a Soft Bums Echo, I jumped at the chance! Never mind my worries about touching poop or anything like that. After being a mom of 2 boys for almost 7 years, I have had them poop on me & pee on me more times that I can count!

I got my diaper in the mail & I was delighted to see how bright & vibrant the coloring was!!

Of course, I couldn't wait to use it & try it on Rosalie, but it had to be prepped first!  I got done with all that & finally the next day, I got her in her first piece of fluff! I might be a bit partial, but I do think she looks good in fluff!

With the disposable diapers we currently have, Rosalie wears a size 1. They are still a bit big on her, but it never fails, she has red marks around her belly & on her legs. (As you can see, her legs are chunky, but really not any more chunky than the typical baby!)  With this Softbums cloth diaper, there were NO red marks, whatsoever, anywhere!

Some of my favorite things about this diaper are listed below!

  • The diapers fit legs from 4" to 14", which means there are NO red marks EVER!
  • There are no leaks, thanks to the slide2size feature.
  • I received 2 inserts (pods) with the shell & I was able to have 2 changes with the same shell.
  • The shell is also reusable.
  • They are very very easy to clean! Rosalie is 100% breastfed, I was able to just throw the inserts along with the shell into the wash when I got ready to wash them, and they came out extremely clean!
  • The pods SNAP into place inside the shell, and when you need to make a change, you just unsnap then snap a clean one into it! My husband was impressed with this!
  • This is a one size diaper - meaning I won't have to go buy bigger sizes when Rosalie starts potty training! Awesome!!
  • Softbums offers diapers that snap closed or velcro closed! You get to choose what type of closure you want!
You can purchase a shell for $21.95 Here or you can purchase the Got one pack for $28.95 Here which comes with 1 Softbums Echo Shell with Slide2size & 1 one-size drytouch super pod!

About the dry touch super pods straight from the softbums website...
This Pod is made up of 2 separate parts.  The OS contoured Pod has rise snaps to instantly size to Sm, Med, or Lg.  Attached is our useful and popular Small DT Pod that snaps onto the OS pod for extra absorbency at night or for heavy wetters.  Each Pod can be used alone for babies 3 mo and under giving you 2 diaper changes for the price of one!!!!  Both Pods are trim and fit in your SoftBums Shells with no folding or tucking.  Just snap and GO!!  This is the best diapering system on the market, designed just for you and your baby!  Nothing fits like a SoftBums with Slide²Size, and SoftBums Pods are made to fit perfectly inside a SoftBums Echo Shell, but Pods are even more useful than that.  The best kept secret about Pods is that they'll fit in ANY waterproof diaper shell, even a pocket diaper, and turn it into a reusable diapering system.

Though I am still new to cloth diapering, I would definitely recommend this diapering system to anyone!! I already have more items in my cart on their website so that I can order more when I have the funds available!

One lucky winner will be chosen to win a SoftBums Echo in print of choice along with a super dry touch pod . Winner should be comfortable with letting me have their name, mailing address, phone number & email address so that I can pass it along to Softbums!

You can enter below to win one!! If you do not want to wait to see if you win to try their system out, you may purchase them here.

Giveaway will close on Wednesday June 5th, 2013!

Gumdrop Pacifier [Review]

Having a newborn, one of the things I made sure I had was MULTIPLE brands of pacifiers! When my youngest son was a baby, Gumdrop Pacifiers weren't available around here! I was sent a pack of them in blue & green for my daughter, by a friend, but when we found out she was a girl, my oldest son said she couldn't have anything blue (that didn't last long!) so he wanted to give them to his aunt & uncle as a baby shower gift for their baby BOY.

I saw them at our local walmart & bought a pack that had 2 in it - they were pink & purple (which was approved by my oldest son!).

This is exactly what they look like!

When my daughter was born, she didn't really care for them, but I kept trying them! Around 3 weeks old, she decided she liked them. Now she won't take any other brand of pacifier!

Since I breastfeed the baby, I have been worried about nipple confusion, which people say happens a lot. With the Gumdrop pacifiers, there has been NO nipple confusion at all!

One problem with some of the other brands that I have found is that she couldn't keep them in her mouth, and even now, at 6 weeks, she still can't keep them in. But with the gumdrops, she has no problems keeping them in her mouth!

One thing I don't much care for with these is if you drop one on the ground, they are kind of rubbery, so they collect more dirt & dog hair (or whatever is on the floor lol) than other brands, but that is the only thing I don't like!

They are reasonably priced also!

Not only do they have pacifiers, there are also adorable pacifier clips!! You can see those here.

I highly recommend these pacifiers to anyone who doesn't know what brand to get!!

Disclaimer; I was not paid or did not receive any type of compensation for doing this review. I purchased the pacifiers with MY money & decided to do a review on it!

Kinda a new layout & small giveaway!

I changed my mine & stayed with black & white as my layout colors! I liked how it looked :)

I did, however, change up the header, so it wasn't so plain!

I am still working on some company pitches. I have sent quite a few out today, and got 1 reply so far!

In the meantime, why not enter this giveaway for a phone case (will fit an iphone or any phone close in size!)

Winner will get to choose the colors (maximum of 2 colors);

Giveaway is open to residents of the USA & Canada only - 18 years of age or older!

Company pitches & layout.

So I've changed the layout - right now, it's just basic black & white (with little color) because I haven't had much time to actually design a new one! Between the baby eating constantly & me being the only one who can feed her (I'm breastfeeding), and testing crochet patterns for other people - I've not had time. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I'll try to make time to get something new up!

I have some emails out for various companies to see if they'd be interested in getting me to review & do some possible giveaways!!

I'll also be setting up a giveaway for something from ME soon - I just have to get some things done first :)

I'm back!

I'm back to blogging on this blog! Gonna be trying to get more things to review & hold giveaways for :)

Couple updates since I last blogged.

Baby girl was born! March 31, 2013. Her name is Rosalie Claire. She was born at 10:45 PM @ 7 lb 15.5 oz! She was also born (not only on Easter but...) on her daddy & my's 6th wedding anniversary!

And on that note - I should probably change my layout - so once Baby Girl lays down, I'll work on that!

Resolutions?

Do you have any New Years Resolutions for 2013?

I definitely do!!

  • Be better with paying bills. Don't get so behind!
  • Become more organized in all things - this could also help with the above!
  • Keep a cleaner neater house - I have already started on this. I think I will completely do one room a week, and that will help out a lot - when I say COMPLETELY do one room a week - I mean vaccuum, sweep, dust, mop, whatever it needs! (Of course - can't sweep & mop a room with carpet haha)
  • Drink more water & try to become healthier.

Absolutely heartbroken..

What has the world come to that a child has to fear going to school? What about the parents who are now going to be in constant fear of letting their child out of their sight, let alone go to school!

My heart is absolutely broken right now after hearing about the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut yesterday.

As a mom of elementary aged children (they are 6 and 4) as well as an aunt of a 12 year old along with a 9 year old & an 8 year old, I can not imagine what the parents of the 20 children, who were murdered yesterday, are feeling.

I can not imagine what it must feel like to lose your baby so unexpectedly & in such a way. When I picked my boys up from school yesterday, I gave each of them a big hug, & with tears in my eyes, told them exactly how much I love them! I just can't imagine my life with out them in it from day to day. Once we got back to our car, Michael asked why I looked like I was about to cry. I explained to him what happened & his instant question was, "What can we do to help?" I had no clue what to tell him, other than pray. Pray with all his heart for the victims & their families. He said, "Okay mom, I can do that." And so - him & Connor each said a prayer for the community in Newtown, CT.

This is one thing that I am going to do to try to help...  Beanies for Brave Students   ...  Other than this - I really don't know of anything else that I could do to help, but with my love for yarn, hooks & crochet, I figure this would be a GREAT thing to help with!! Do you crochet? Why not help out also?!

Our dear Heavenly Father we lift up all of the families who lost their precious little children and other family members in the shooting at the elementary school today. Our hearts are broken for the children and adults who were killed this morning in the Connecticut shooting. Our heart aches for those parents, teachers, children and families. They said on the news that this is the worst school shooting in American history. Lord we know You were present with each and every one of them as their lives were savagely taken too soon. Lord we pray for the kids who were there today who saw the shooting, had friends killed, heard the gun shots. God please hold their hearts. Please comfort them. Lord, I pray for the teachers and adults please show them Your love. That You’re in their midst, You are a Refuge and in Your presence there is no fear. Lord may You be glorified in this situation. Please bring people to You,  restore, comfort, save, hold, uplift, and be ever present now. We ask that you comfort the members of the families that are left behind to mourn their loss.  Let your words “I am with you” comfort each family member and keep them from falling into the depths of despair over this unimaginable loss. Having the comfort of knowing that someday very soon they will see their loved ones again.  Lord we pray that the police are given Your wisdom as they handle this terrible tragedy so that justice will be served swiftly. In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen.  God bless you all.
